About Peter

PhD 2013 University of Groningen, The Netherlands

MSc 2009 Comenius University, Slovakia

BSc 2007 Comenius University, Slovakia

Peter completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. A. J. Minnaard at the University of Groningen, where he developed new synthetic strategies for glycerol-based lipids, followed by postdoctoral research on the total synthesis of methoxy-mycolic acid.

His subsequent career spans both academia and industry, including positions at Symeres, the University of Gothenburg as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow working on photoredox catalysis, and roles in process and medicinal chemistry in the UK. This broad experience has provided him with expertise across synthetic methodology, process chemistry, and drug discovery.

In 2022, Peter returned to the University of Groningen, where he is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sustainable Drug Development. His research focuses on developing sustainable synthetic methodologies and catalytic strategies for the preparation of biologically relevant molecules. Alongside his research, he teaches introductory and advanced courses in organic chemistry and supervises BSc, MSc, and PhD students. His group combines fundamental organic chemistry with practical applications to address challenges in sustainable synthesis and medicinal chemistry.
